Earlier this week, I told where I get my ideas and inspiration from. In that publication, entitled “A confession”, I shared a series of steps that are necessary when capturing and materializing an idea.
Â
In response, Bernardo sent me the following message:
"You portrayed me with writing down ideas, many times I forget them. Now that I'm starting a small business, how do I know what are the best ideas to focus on?"
Â
My answer was a bit long, but to save you time, I’ll summarize it as best as I can…
Â
In terms of creation, innovation and change, ideas by themselves are neither good nor bad. Personally, I would say that it is very rare to find an idea that does not have something redeemable.
Â
In fact, I firmly believe that any idea has the potential to become something great if…
- You have a clear vision of what you want to achieve.
- You are patient enough to allow it to mature.
- You have the necessary commitment to make it a reality.
- And finally, if you have enough strength and conviction, to keep believing in it and improving it, even when no one else does.
Â
Many of the great ideas and innovations that have propelled mankind forward (the telephone, the light bulb, airplanes, cars, the internet and so on), share these 4 points.
Â
They were all seen as far-fetched, but thanks to the vision, patience, commitment and conviction of their creators, they became the new standard.
👇 Reminder of the day 👇
- Great ideas are terrible ideas until they become the new standard.
Vision, patience, commitment and conviction! (and don’t forget to write them down 😉).
