After a month of June full of commitments, I finally had the opportunity to answer some community mailings.
One of the first messages I came across was from Elvira, who, in response to “If you don’t start, you don’t fail“, wrote me the following:
"Moving may have been the excuse to put off reading your blog for three days in a row, but I realize that I have been procrastinating on important matters such as my mental and spiritual awakening and development as a human being.
Once again, thank you very much Vlad, for your dedication and commitment.
A hug, Elvira"
I told Elvira about one of my favorite productivity practices, the 2-day rule.
Popularized by Matt D’Avella in 2019, the 2-day rule is a fantastic tool for maintaining steady progress on whatever habit or routine you’re trying to institute. Basically it consists of, whatever the activity in which you are trying to progress, you do not “skip” more than one day in a row.
The 2-day rule is perfect for modern times, in which we are exposed to so much uncertainty and unforeseen events…
And the most interesting thing is that, according to some studies published in 2022 and 2023, it was proven that when building a habit or establishing a routine, skipping a day had no negative impact, however, participants who skipped 2 or more consecutive days dropped out 72% of the time.
👇 Reminder of the day 👇
- Do not skip more than 2 days in a row.
Things happen, life happens and we can’t expect the days to be as we imagine them in our minds. If you want to develop a new habit, perfectionism often ends up being counterproductive.
Flexibility, on the other hand, as in many other areas of life, is a great ally. If something unexpected happens and you cannot perform the activity one day, you know that you have the flexibility to allow yourself a break, but always committing to not extend it for more than one day.
