Playing Super Nintendo with my brother (and friends) during my childhood taught me a valuable lesson.
Â
In the moments of greatest tension, of stress, of imminent defeat, there was always an ally that allowed me to stop the action and prepare myself emotionally for the outcome, the pause button.
Â
I don’t know if children understand this intuitively or if it is a protective mechanism that develops in the first years of life, but that moment of pause between the emotion that is welling up and how one reacts is key for a correct management of emotions.
👇 Tip of the Day 👇
- Pause
Â
When there is no awareness between what you perceive and the way you react, anything can control you…
Â
But if you create a time and space for reflection between what you feel and your reaction, and use that pause to become aware, you will have enough clarity to decide how to act in response to the external stimulus and stay in control of the situation.
