Ever wondered why change feels like a tough nut to crack? Even when we know it can bring good things into our lives.
So, yesterday I wrote about resistance. And guess what? One thing we often push back against, whether we realize it or not, is change.
Our brain's top priority is to keep us going by sticking to what it's used to - our regular routines, patterns, and habits. That's why even a hint of change or something fresh can kick up some stress, even if it's crucial.
You’ve probably heard that your unconscious mind is responsible for about 95% of your thoughts and actions. Well, turns out your brain loves following the same old “programs” or “patterns” to make life a bit smoother.
Anything that steps out of these usual patterns, be it something fresh or an unexpected twist in behavior, sets off some alarm bells in the brain.
Despite this resistance, change is possible and actually pretty essential if you’re aiming to level up personally, professionally, or spiritually.Â
Creating new brain connections takes time and a bit of patience. Our brain loves to sweep the bad stuff under the rug to stay comfy, so it might try to convince you into sticking with the status quo.
Overcoming that initial resistance is the first step to start seeing improvements in your life.
Tip of the day
- Embrace change as a journey that requires time and effort. Start by taking small steps and gradually work your way up to avoid that initial resistance from your brain. Stay consistent until the new behavior sticks.
Remember that change is a catalyst for your personal growth and transformation. So let go of what weighing you down and greet the endless possibilities that change brings along.
