A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a talk about Agile methodology and how to use artificial intelligence to manage projects more efficiently.
The event was attended by entrepreneurs from different industries and it was very interesting to hear different opinions and approaches to the subject, however, what struck me the most was the message of an artist (painter):
"We are approaching a point where AI can create art better than an artist."
I must confess that the statement shocked me, especially coming from an artist, but instead of judging her, I decided to introspect and analyze why her comment made me uncomfortable.
After a couple of days thinking about the subject, I concluded that, what I consider “art” has 4 (what for me, are) essential characteristics:
- Art is inspired at a metaphysical level: by a creative energy that motivates, moves, drives and guides us.
- Art is created by a human being: Nothing against technology, I love it, but even if an AI can make the perfect composition, or use the most sophisticated algorithm, without the human touch of the artist, I don’t think the result will be the same.
- Art is created to have an impact, to change something or someone.
- Art is an expression of the authenticity of its creator and conveys its essence.
After reflecting (on my reflection 😅) I realized that, according to my definition, art is not limited to the visual arts. For me, art is everything we do when we give the best of ourselves, when we devote ourselves, body and soul, to a task or purpose.
👇 Tip of the Day 👇
- Give your best.
Forget about perfection and bring out your humanity, transmit your essence, tell your story, live your authenticity…
And, if you have time, tell me what art is for you. I would love to hear your opinion.
