(6H #1) > The beginning

More than 30 years of reading, 20 of writing and a lifetime of curiosity and learning have brought me here.

This is, officially, the first newsletter I am writing, and therefore, I want to take the opportunity to explain why I have decided to do it, how it will work and, most importantly, how you will benefit from reading it.

H1: The story

The 6 highlights (6H) of the week is a practice I have been doing since 2007 (intermittently) as part of my weekly routine.

Inspired by the popular Feynman technique, this practice aims to identify the key learnings of the week, consolidate them, and share them with others.

Initially, I engaged in this practice primarily with my classmates, a select group of friends, and my mother. Over the years, I extended this sharing to various groups and online forums, and most recently, I have also begun sharing these insights with my team and closest people.

And now, starting this week, I’m excited to extend this sharing to you as well…

If you’re not familiar with the Feynman technique, it’s a learning method developed by Nobel laureate physicist Richard Feynman. At its core lies the belief that teaching a concept in simple terms is the ultimate test of understanding and assimilation.

It is a super useful strategy to learn and better understand any subject and you can put it into practice in the following way:

  1. Choose a topic: Anything you want to learn/understand in depth.

  2. Summarize: Take notes, using simple language and analogies, of the most important points.

  3. Review and simplify: Review your initial summary further; if explaining proves challenging, delve deeper into that area.

  4. Refine: Continuously simplify your explanation until it can be understood by anyone.

  5. Teach: In addition to simplifying content (as per Feynman’s original method), I incorporate elements from the ‘Protégé Effect’ introduced by Jean-Pol Martin in the 1980s. This concept underscores that anticipatory teaching enhances one’s learning process significantly.

While it is true that the Feynman technique is highly effective for learning. However, when combined with the “Protégé Effect,” the results can be significantly enhanced.

The secret is to approach the learning process keeping in mind, from the beginning, that you will teach what you've learned to someone else.

H2: The purpose

All my projects have a common goal, empowering people. And that’s basically what I will do with this newsletter, the blog and with my Social Media (Instagram and Linkedin).

H3: Commitment

The idea behind this project is crystal clear, to provide you with ideas, techniques, strategies and content that will enable you discover, experience and unleash your true potential.

  • Every Sunday, I will share the week’s most impactful insights with you through this newsletter.

  • The blog will feature daily reflections on my areas of interest.

  • On Instagram, expect inspirational content on a daily basis.

  • And on Linkedin I will post, twice a week, about  my professional life.

H4: Communication

As I mentioned above, my main goal is to help and empower you, so I would love for us to keep an open and fluid communication. Feel free to reach out, whenever you want through
vladimir@younity.one, Instagram and Linkedin.

H5: Community

One of the reasons why I decided to carry out this project is because after helping so many people 1:1, I felt the need to reach out and help as many people as possible, and in that way, you will play a fundamental role, that’s why I decided to do this project. I would like to ask you to share anything that you find interesting or that you think might help someone you know.

H6: Intention of the week

Another regular practice of mine involves establishing a weekly intention. This practice holds immense power as it enhances clarity and streamlines decision-making processes.

For the upcoming week, my intention is straightforward: “Start”.

This intention reflects my commitment to focus on and prioritize tasks essential to initiating this project.

If you want to join me on this practice, below I explain a simple step-by-step process for you to follow:

  1. Define your intention: Make it clear, concise and actionable. It can be just one word like my example, or a sentence like: “This week, I will focus and prioritize everything related to launching my personal brand”.

  2. Cues and reminders: To stay focused on your intention, jot it down in your diary, stick post-its on your computer screen, set reminders on your phone, and more. The more cues you have, the better.

  3. Mindfulness: A clear intention offers a chance to practice mindfulness daily. Stay attuned to your thoughts and decisions throughout the day.

  4. Reflect: Dedicate a few minutes each evening to reflect on your daily progress.

  5. Celebrate: Wrap up the week by celebrating your achievements and setting new intentions for the upcoming week.
