The last seven days have been really intense. The week started with two days full of workshops and meetings with younity country leaders in Switzerland. On Wednesday, I moved to Croatia to participate in a five-day retreat.
Initially, I thought I would not have enough time to write the newsletter, but an inspiring conversation with Mimi on Friday night encouraged me to do so (so this newsletter is dedicated to her for her support).
This week, however, the dynamic will be a little different: I will share 6 short reflections on the experiences of the last seven days.
H1: On growth
Personal growth is fundamental, but there comes a time when, especially when you have a big goal or objective in mind, it is more important to prioritize collective growth.
As the African proverb goes: “If you want to go fast, walk alone. If you want to go far, go with company.”
H2: On healing
- They become aware of what they fear, and do not allow fear to control them anymore.
- They let go of all kinds of expectations and accept what they cannot control.
- They take action to change those things over which they do have control.
Three characteristics, which although they may seem simple, represent some of the greatest challenges we face in our personal development journey. Embracing them not only strengthens our spirit, but also enables us to face any obstacle with resilience and hope.
H3: On flow
Last week I had a couple of planning and strategy days with my team, and earlier this week, we did the same with our country leads.
After those 4 days and the 5 days of retreat, I have had an idea running around in my head:
There are 2 fundamental choices in our human experience: resist life or flow with it.
Unfortunately, a large majority resist until life pushes them to the limit and circumstances force them to let go of their need for control. Flow is always the best option.
H4: On meditation
Among the many interesting facts he shared with me, he explained that one of the most fascinating things they have discovered lately is that, when doing Dr Joe’s meditations, a brain activity similar to that generated by psilocybin (a psychedelic compound responsible for the psychoactive effect of some mushrooms) occurs.
H5: On standards
The standards we adopt define who we are. By lowering our standards, it is inevitable that our environment and actions will deteriorate. Conversely, by raising our standards, improvement becomes a natural and inevitable consequence.
It is critical to be aware of the standards we set, both personally and professionally. Maintaining high standards not only drives our growth, it also reflects the respect and dedication we have for ourselves and those around us.
Be careful of the standards you set, as they are the main indicator of the person you are and the person you will become.
H6: And on the manifestation (or the art) of living
There is a widespread tendency to condition our happiness based on limiting expectations. Many follow the wrong formula: To have, to do and to be.
“When I SUCCEED, I will be able to DO what I love, and then I WILL be happy.“
However, this equation is inverted. The true path to self-realization follows a different order:
- BE: First, we must become the person capable of achieving our dreams.
- DO: Then, act and behave in accordance with this elevated version of ourselves.
- HAVE: Finally, as a natural consequence, the manifestation of our desires will flow without resistance.
When we align our being with our objectives, when we live from the essence of who we want to be, the universe conspires to materialize what we desire.
