David, an 83-year-old reader from the city of Buenos Aires, wrote to me in response to my post «Don’t limit yourself», asking if this advice was also valid for him (due to his age).
This was my response:
Hi David, my grandmother turned 94 a few months ago.
As long as there is a tomorrow, a new day, you have the opportunity to create, enjoy, learn, grow and most importantly, live. I wrote that you don't limit yourself, but also, don't let a number (your age) do it either. There is still a lot you can do.
Sending you a big hug 🙌.
If you read the
third edition of my newsletter (6H #3), you probably remember that I wrote about my 94-year-old grandmother Esther.
you probably remember that I wrote about my 94-year-old grandmother Esther.
Esther has 2 hip prostheses, the first one was placed after a fall in 2014, and the second one in 2022.
With 2 hip implants and 94 years old, Esther has reduced mobility, but that doesn’t stop him from living his life. Going to restaurants from time to time, going for a walk around the house and even traveling (a couple of weeks ago, he took a flight to Lanzarote, where we met up with the rest of the family).
Despite everything, age, falls, etc. he is still standing, obviously not with the same energy of his youth, not even the same as when he was David’s age (83) but he is still standing.
As Confucius said:«Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we fall«.
👇 Reminder of the day 👇
Today I would like to close with another phrase from Confucius, the third proper name that gives title to this publication:
- "It doesn't matter how slow you go, as long as you don't stop."
The years pass for everyone, and as age advances, vital energy begins to diminish, but if, while you are on this plane, you have the determination to keep going, you will have the time and strength to continue creating, learning, enjoying, and above all, living.
A hug, David!
